Romanticism Blog

Blog on Romanticism
Are you more a product of the Enlightenment or Romanticism?

As I have sat back and reflected upon the two periods of time the Enlightenment and the Romanticism, I would have been a perfect candidate to live in that time period.  The Romanticism period was more of a time of true self emotion, free spirited, spontaneity, no more reason or explanation.  This is totally me.  As I grew up I needed no reason.  I did what I wanted to do when I wanted too.  more times than not if you gave me a reason for something I would rebel and do the opposite just because there was no one that was going to give a reason or tell me to do something.  I found so much freedom in learning things for myself and allowing myself you grow and develop into who I am today.  Now yes It also allowed for consequences and hardships but those are valued lessons in life that I had to learn due to wanting to do things my way.  Since I have become a mother I have been able to see the Romanticism in full effect with my children and how I have been raising them.  Yes I am there mom and I am here to guide them but I do let them govern themselves for the most part.  One example I let them explore and play where they want (as long as it is safe) and I feel as if all eyes are on me by my neighbors because I am not that mom that sits outside if her children are outside playing.  Allowing them to be able to explore and do things on there own.  We have engaged in numerous activities that involve hiking, camping, boating and bike riding.  These activities let us get away from the hustle and bustle or everyday life.  We are not subjected to others rational/reasonal thinking.  And we defiantly don’t do what everyone else is doing because everyone’s doing it.  By being more of a romanticism person I have a true love of life and find great pleasure in being me.  I am very out spoken and speak freely my thoughts and feelings.  I allow my kids to do the same, to find their own place where they fit in because they are who they are.
